Laurie Myers-Bishop is a writer who currently lives in Waterloo, ON. Her work has been published in literary magazines such as Room Magazine, Matrix Magazine, Riddle Fence, The South Circular, Pif Magazine, The Steel Chisel and Encore Literary Magazine.

 

She won Sarah Selecky's 2016 Little Bird writing contest judged by Lisa Moore was a finalist for both the 2016 Don't Talk To Me About Love short story contest and the 2014 Elora Writer's Festival short story contest. Her short story The (Violation of) the Pigeon Hole Principle was nominated by Don't Talk To Me About Love for the 2017 Journey Prize.

 

Laurie graduated from York University with an Honours BA in Humanities and went on to attend the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD). She took the Humber College Creative Writing Certificate where she worked with Sandra Birdsell and Kim Moritsugu and completed the Sarah Selecky Story Intensive in 2014. She works in social services.
